M. Ward & Zooey Deschanel Live Tracks
July 18th, 2007

This is ginchy: one of my favorite musicians teaming up with the always entertaining Zooey Deschanel. Not much else to say on that that hasn’t been said, other than I adore the “You Really Got A Hold On Me” cover, because I’ve always loved that song. This is from a live performance on KEXP in late June 2007 (the two also are both involved in the eventually-hopefully-being-released film “The Go-Getter”).
Enjoy!
Edit: Here’s You Really Got A Hold On Me in AIFF form; it’s 16.7MB, but it might work better if the mp3 causes you issues.

Love the songs, but is anyone else having problems with “You Really Got A Hold on Me”? Any chance you might be able to send a different copy? I was just listening to the Zombies cover both songs in a medly and I cant get it out of my head… though Sam does it best! Thanks…

Wow, I’ve been looking for tracks with Zooey singing [fantastic voice --- glad to see she's venturing into music more often now] ^^
Thank you! :)

Did you ever see “Elf”? Yes, stupid movie, but Zooey Deschanel sings in it (“Baby, It’s Cold Outside”) and it’s really quite charming. I look forward to hearing her pairing with M. Ward.

i cannot stand her voice, or her for that matter. her voice is just too projected for wards style. she seems liek she is trying much to hard to have that 30s jazz club crooner voice (you know what im getting at). Yuk, just ruined M wards beautiful songs for me.

Thank you for posting these songs. I am still waiting for Zooey to record a CD. Her voice is so classic and haunting I could listen to it all day long.
